Nailing it

So being the lazy girl I can be, sometimes I really cannot be bothered painting my nails, and i'm sure 93.25% of girls would agree with me that for all the time and effort it takes to make your digits look immaculate, it only takes a split second, a slight silly movement (like trying to make toast and leaving the bread bag with streaks of blue on the inside) to buggar your hard work up.

But, as annoying as this can be, we never learn.

This time I'll be careful! I will refrain from having the sudden urge to make food or try on clothes...

Lately I have had a sudden excitement, an interest in different nail colour designs, not the detailed patterns you get painted on with a delicate brush, but the quirky fun things us less talented people can try at home.

Take for example my newest trend discovery (and favourite) the Ringy Bling as i like to call it, as you paint your ring finger a different contrasting colour to the rest of your fingers.
eg:

This little doosey is the first pic i saw to launch my interest, I'm not sure which celeb it was, but my compliments to primped.com.au where i found it, i also saw Beyonce showin' off the look too, but i ain't as keen about her sharp pointed nails as much so she didn't make the cut, sorry B!
Now this is my interpretation with some more safer tones just to ease myself into it like we all need to with something new and different:
Dontya just love the bling I added aye? goes with the name i guess! but yeah i wore it to work and had a few comments from customers saying they liked and were going to try it out so i'm happy.

Another trend I saw was from Lauren Conrad and from work, the graduated colour, so just lightest to darkest basically and similar tones. I went for a bit of 'Blue Steel' with the greys.
Good if you're a bit indecisive of which colour to wear- my answer- all of them!

And finally, the next colour scheme i'm going for: the bright tangerine, as bold brights are popular this season, and a dash of metallic which seems to be staying around for good!
I've never really preferred gold or silver over eachother, so i'm sharing the love and goin for gold (sadly, pun intended). And what a shame, i don't have a gold varnish so unfortunately i'm gonna hafta go buy one! OPI let's see if you can help me....
Oh and this layered wrist look is sick so i'm stealing it and doing it for work tomoz, I'll take some pics of different styles and post em when i can!

Stop Press- Typo!

I just thought I'd do a quick update, had to go into the city today for a visual merchandising meeting, and as i was walking through Carillon city arcade i saw there were some new shops in which the window of one of them had a black A4 notebook that had 3 pistols on the cover (i am a big fan of guns and skulls- only commercially though, not the real thing). Anyways my shopping radar went off and i took a mental note to return on my out.

I walked in and was AMAZED, the coolest little shop, everything in there i wanted, tonnes of cool notebooks, house ornaments, lanterns, laptop cases....think kikki k or smiggle mixed with a quirky house interiors shop- and cheap! my favourite word! (only when describing an item to purchase, not my personal styling taste).
It's name is TYPO and apparently it's part of the cotton on group and i love those guys so of course it had to be their idea, anyways i inquired about the gun book and the sales assistant mentioned my other favourite word "it's on sale", heart palpatations now....i found it, for $2!!!!! yes you read correctly, so i bought 3, (different ones of course), i loooove a bargain.
I told my boyfriend about my discovery excpecting him to sigh and repeat the sentence "stop spending your money!", instead to my shock he said "can you get me one?".
I'm sorry what? he's encouraging me to return to a shop and spend money? my dreams came true! (bit of an e-xag there), but yes so i'm getting hot flushes thinking of when i can next return to this quirky little place, lock it in for next week me thinks!
here are my lovelies that i bought, i have a thing against those people who wear those oversized wolf and moon shirts (they all seem to tuck them into their jeans and have poor hygeine), so the bf will probably be a bit puzzled to my choice, but i just think it's got that cool 70's sketching artwork look to it.
I probably won't use these books, as i just like to collect notebooks, here are some i prepared/bought earlier:

eye spy

Hello again, been another long while! but i swear i've been busy....doing make-up stuff, so not too strenuous but hey, i work full time too!
So i've fallen back in love with beauty this month, sometimes i have those days where i wake up and cannot be bothered with it, so just a quick dust of mineral foundation, blush and a bold lippy (preferably fuchsia or orange).
And then i will get crafty again and put in more effort, getting inspiration the night before from mags or primped.com.au  (my fave beauty website), and coming up with something that takes me 45 minutes of my 1 hour 'getting ready for work' time.
I try to take a snapshot of any of my craftyness i do but most of the time it would mean running late for work and it just ain't the same after an 8 hour shift when it's smudged half way down your face (bit of an exaggeration there), so i made a mini collaboration of my 'looks' so u can see why it takes me so long, i've also started trying out falsies (eyelashes) as we got some wicked ones at work recently along with a few other items which i will show you:

you may have noticed some of these aren't my eyes, because i did a make up course and had to practice on some friends but i did do the make-up.
so these are recent purchases from work, two false lashes, one with silver on top so when you blink it shines, a two way brush that i hafta say work great and good for travel, mascara (coz i liked the old one so much), bronzing balls (yes, they're back!) and an illuminating blush which is what i got most excited about below:
                                                                             lovely
Here's some other make up brands and products that i think are the shiz:
BYS or as i like to call 'Bring your shiz' make up, sooooo cheap i get it from Gloss, the cheapy make up and accessory shop that used to be ice accessories, i also stock up on a few synthetic brushes when i'm there, the containers behind are loose powders which are great for shadow intensity and i like to use the nude shimmer as an illuminator/highlighter. The lippies are a little dry, so best with gloss but if you don't wanna spend heaps on a bold lip you probably won't like in a month or so, these are a great idea.
Ah Inglot, i send alot of customers their way, for one thing it's fairly cheaper than high end beauty products, but still not something you could stock up massively on, this fuchsia lippy i get complimented on whenever i wear it, the colour comes out amazingly and smells sweet too, for $24 you can decide if it's worth it or not! and the palettes are $45 for 5 colours, and you get to mix your own colours, and once again i've had alot of 'oo- ah's' when i wear these shadows because of the intensity.
Had to have NARS in there somewhere, known for amazing shadow amongst other things, this is my favourite colour palette i have, gorgeous gold/brown, i'm more a fan of a brown smokey eye than black, it's warmer and more natural without looking like a panda. The other two items are Stila, also bought from Mecca cosmetica, the item on the left is a multi use peach colour for lips or cheeks so great in the purse for touch-ups ( was so hard to pick just one colour out of the eight!), and after i had such great experience with this brand i went back and asked the sales assistant what out of the range was a 'must-have' and she suggested the smudge pot, good as a base to put colour ontop to bring it out better, or on it's own. It's a little tricky to blend as it's a cream that is supposed to stay put so you could say it does it's job a little too well, but it definately stays throughout the day! all these products approx $40-$50
Good ol' Napol! Now you may have heard "not to prime is a crime!" here or there, which may make you think "oh crap i better get it if they say so!" but my course teacher told us that it was 'less than necessary', to put it more nicely than he did...now i agree, you won't get arrested, but i will say that it keeps your make-up in place a whole lot better! I mix it with my moisturiser in the morning to save time, they say you only need one or the other but i have fairly dry skin so i need alot. Now the liquid foundation is wicked, (whenever it's brought up, no-one believes i get pimples and discolouration, the foundation is that good), i used it on my friend when doing her make-up once and she asked for the name of it because she liked it so much (it's minimal make-up by the way). The blue-ish shadow is pigment that looks blue but turns purple when blended out, looks awesome on it's own, no shading needed!
and lastly, my collection of Sportsgirl lipglosses.

summer 11/12 launch Perth

Hello Hello, yes it has been a little minuscule while since I last put up a post, it feels like ages (in blogger time that is), but i have been busy with work and late nights due to our summer 11/12 launch at Sportsgirl, although i can't fully blame work as it was only the one late night, the others were simply my own fault (why is it you get most crafty and inspired late in the evening?). So i have to sometimes put my own personal health first, no Latte or Mother drink could ever be enough to catch me up fully on my sleep deprivation.......maybe i should try them together?

Back to the important stuff, as you will now know my place of work is the lovely Sportsgirl, my most loved chainstore since i was 12 (my first purchase was a blue and cream bucket hat), and lastnight i attended the roadshow with my fellow WA girls, sipping champagne and hunting down canape's, they never seem to dissappoint! (the show that is, not the food...but it was good also).
I stood there clicking away with the camera, boppin the shoulders to the *unse unse* of the music, i was too excited to sit down even thought i had been on my feet working all day already, i was grabbing my girls' arms and saying "oh my god i want those shoes" "oh my god i want that dress" " oh my god sequins!!!" it was certainly quite thrilling.
Now, i went a bit crazy with the amount of snapshots, and the damn models were doing their jobs too well and not staying still so i discovered a large amount of blurred pics afterward, so i have compiled a few that reflect the night and the key pieces i'm hangin for:

absolutely loving the full out fit colours

gorgeous hats, dibs on the orange one - very Prada...

like the bright socks with the nudish wedge
and again with the shoes and socks
the pastels look cool together, i like the blue blazer and the suede shorts, the pink hair, also growing on me...
underneath is actually a very cute structured dress, i'm not big on florals but this one won me over
my favourite look of the night, the white mesh bag, structured white jacket, the all-white style is gonna be my next look to try!
hot sequin mini dress, the orange shoes pick up the orange in the dress well, and the turban makes it more modern.
everyone went nuts when we were told this dress goes to every store - i see my next birthday dress
the last look, obviously party due to the excessive amounts of sequins... now that was just a snap shot of each 'trend' they're going for, i just had selected pics, now onto the really  important part, the things want...
these are my beloved shoes, i have seen so many designers do a nude/cream shoe with a flash of colour so i saw these and stopped breathing, although they will make me look humungo giant, they are 'totes' worth it.

quite blurry, but best one i had, i spose if you squint u get the jist, but i am normally a one bag only kinda gal, but this is really well-made looking baggage for approx $50
now this bag just wouldn't keep still, the one on the left, this is the best shot i have, on the other side it's woven, but still white, and i'm not really living up to my 'one bag only gal' standard am i?
my row was the 'picture taking' row as you can see with the mobiles out...
a quick snapshot of the new shoe styles to expect, alot of the heels were at the back, yes the fruit at the bottom are coin purses not shoes...
and lastly a snapshot of some of the lovely accessories coming in to finish the launch off, and i cannot wait until i can pur-chase some of the awesome stuff i've seen this week. The collection is spread over 6 months, so if you saw something you like, just look on the website sportsgirl.com.au and if it's in the new arrivals section, we should be getting it soon!
