playing dress ups

One thing i have recently realised, is that at work we put together outfits all the time, daily infact.
For four years i have discussed dressing for different age groups, different body shapes, styles, budgets and occasions. I've listened to hundreds of different womens' needs and wants and helped them find what is best suited for them, what they like.

I realised that i do this for plenty of other women, but when it comes to me, i dont put nearly as much passion in!
I have so many options at home, so much i have collected and yet on the weekends i normally just wear bare minimal (as in shirt and pants, not naked!).
I feel this is also due to the fact that if i have an occasion to go to, i am so overwhelmed with options that i take practically 3 hours to complete an outfit that should have taken me 20 minutes...

So i thought, why not treat myself like a customer?  I gathered a few 'looks' together, shoes, bags, clothes, jewellery, make-up and all, of what I like, what i would like to wear, from my own clothes.
And this is what I came up with:

Sass and Bide dress, collected bangles, all others Sportsgirl

$3 Salvo shorts, Bardot top, Live bag, vintage gold chain bracelet, all else Sportsgirl
Staple top, Alpha 60 skull ring, Rimmel polish, Diva snake cuff, all else Sportsgirl

Sass&Bide top, Revlon polish, all else Sportsgirl

Staple Dress, necklace as gift, all else Sportsgirl
Leggings from a small freo shop,Witchery heels, mimco chain bracelets, kit polish, all else Sportsgirl
Alpha 60 silk dress, Tree of Life necklace, OPI polish, vintage glow mesh bag
Therapy shoes, all else Sportsgirl

oops another typo!

Oh the daily battles I face working in the city....of course i'm talking about retail temptations what else?
Every day i walk past the same lovely shops and everytime i sigh, but one place i enjoyably go in as often as possible is a shop i've spoken about before: Typo!
It's all so cheap and fun and my god i want everything, as i say to alot my customers, it's the price that sells it, if it's cheap, we reconsider it.

So i've stocked up on a few cute interior decorating pieces. I have seen lettering in houses all over the place, magazines mainly. But I can't really bring myself to have the whole 'eat', 'sleep', 'poo' (okay that was a fake one )writing blocks, mainly because i don't really like some plank of wood telling me what to do in my own house....
But....I can stand to have singular letters, because they aren't so bossy, so when i saw "3 for $10" i thought okay i can give in this time, at $5 each that means you get one free!
I love the little scrabble looking one, that's the one i really wanted, the '&' i've had an interest in this shape for awhile 'cos it's a cool design, and 't' doesn't stand for anything, it was just the only letter that was baby blue (which is my theme colour in the main living area) so i thought why not?
And this is where my little Q comes into play.
This is the cheapest wall decoration i've done in my house, the big one on the left was on sale for $15 at Typo-yes got a few stares on the train carrying that home!
The two face ones in the middle are my own creations so pretty much no money spent there, the blue is just  floral wrapping paper.
So put it all together and this cost about 30 bucks- cheap aye?
I still have to put one more above the floral print, i saw these gorgeous framed origami cranes at a stall in the Fremantle markets (just waiting for my birthday to come round for that one!)

bagging out

As promised, a revisit to my bag collection with some new additions!
Now i have to give credit to my lovely place of work as they have done pretty damn well in bringing out such amazing baggage, so amazing, i have to buy 2 (one in each colour duh!)

I seem to have broken a record for myself in bag buying this month, yes in the space of 4 weeks i have bought TWELVE, read it, TWELVE bags!
I know i know, you're thinking ive probably been living off cat food for those 4 weeks, but no!
i assure you each one of those bags was at least $30 or under i promise! *eyes looking up at the roof*

would you like to see my babies?
of course you would!
lets begin with the smaller bags:

The stripey one is actually a laptop bag, but oversized clutches are so in I thought i could put better use to it, the bags to the right are copies of the Celine bags that have been everywhere in fashion country if you will see below:

they are actually fluro, the light doesn't give it justice, but these were the bags everyone was picking up and saying "who would buy these!?"
........ME!

Next on the list are my fully sick carry-alls:
You may recognise some bags from the sportsgirl summer launch show, notice i bought everything i said i would? at least i keep my word!

I love my fruit bag, very popular print at the mo, the black one is also mesh, i've noticed alot of bags this season with the "check out my insides" sheerness to them, similar to the clear one in the picture with the Celine bag.
I have taken this black one on the train before and i have never felt so exposed!
note to self: be prepared to not have anything in your bag you don't want the public to see...

And now i am done with the bags, lets have a look at some hot new shoes i got from work too!

Other than both having nude with a block colour, these have to be the two most opposing shoes in the universe (exaggerate much?), the first ones are sharp heeled, bearing your skin to the world and leaving no sock-tan unseen, the others are so block-like and comfy and enclosed, but i love them equally like they were my children (and then i secretly told both of them they're my favourite!).

Now, with the strappy heels, i know it's very 90's, but the straps are soooooo back, so basically any style of shoe is in fashion, so embrace them all!
I like their sleekness, and i've noticed in alot of celeb pics, their stylist has teamed a strappy pair with a more covered-over garment
ee geee:

The ultimate leg lengthener if you're in a mini dress/skirt
Sandra totes looks the shizziest though.
*sigh* i love my things

wrist action

I know it's nothing amazing, but i have been noticing a little craze in fashion land (well, from pictures of fashion land), and it's all in the wrist...
who would have thought that a glamorous polished fashionista would think to punk-up her arms with layered trinkets of friendship bands, a man-style watch, and basically every bracelet she's ever owned?

I have admired and now copied this trend as much as i possibly could and created some of my own 'looks':

My mimco-ish gunmetal look

All white

Precious metal

Vintage

Angulars

My favourite, all the colours of the rainbow! unusually these watches say different times lol

sass and abide

I would just like to begin by saying, if there were fashion gods, every sunday i would bring offerings to the temple of Sass and Bide.
I just love everything they're about, their fearlessness of textures/colours/prints, their stories behind their collections (one heart felt collection celebrating the life of a friend of theirs who passed away from cancer- beautiful colours used throughout), and how flattering the designs are for the female figure, just have a squiz at the lovely Kimmy K in these pieces:

Juuuuuust gorgeous! I love Miss K, but that is another blog to come...

Another thing i admire about old S n' B is the ladies behind the label, Heidi and Kate are two loving mums and wives aswell as amazing designers.
They have successfully made a business from what they love, kept a close friendship, have families, still dress the way they wanna dress and don't listen to 'dress your age' notions, and keep amazing tans!
Oh and they also seem to have an interest in sparklies like myself, always showing at least a sequin dress or patches of shiny beading here and there.
So the next item I have my eyes quite literally on, are their eyewear collection:

Oh which one to pick?
Now that i work in the city, i feel it is my duty to visit regularly the Sass and Bide store, just to be in the relm of awesome style, my 'church'.
So i leave this with giving myself 10 commandments to abide by:
  1. Thou shalt dress however ye desires without being restricted by other opinions.
  2. Thou shalt spend a weeks' pay on  an investment piece per collection.
  3. Thou shalt use childhood toys to make awesome helmuts.
  4. Thou shalt acquire a sequin covered party dress.
  5. Thou shalt do what ye love as a career, preferably with a buddy.
  6. Thou shalt still believe in having little quotes to go with how thy style is at the time.
  7. Thou shalt have fun with fashion
  8. Thou shalt remember ye can have a family aswell as a career
  9. Thou shalt love thy accessories
  10. Thou shalt accompany thy outfit with a rocking hair style
